PresentationCenter-What to look for in the next release by Brenda Millar

New Release Availability

PBI is scheduled to release version 5.0.20091 of the PresentationCenter in March of 2009. This release will include several significant new features (see below for more details) as well as important bug fixes. The PBI Development Staff has also included substantial performance improvements to enhance the end user’s experience. Software testing showed performance gains of up to 200% in some cases. All current PresentationCenter software users will be contacted to schedule their upgrade in the 2nd quarter of 2009. If you currently do not have the PresentationCenter and are interested in implementing it – please email customer.care@precisionbi.com and we will have a PBI representative contact you.

Chart Forecasting and ‘Other’ Grouping

Chart forecasting is an exciting new feature implemented to enhance chart metrics. Various regression methods and forecasting periods can be selected. Descriptive statistics such as mean, median, and standard deviations can be displayed on charts. The addition of an ‘Other’ category has also been introduced to allow for the grouping of lesser values.

Sub Tabs

Sub Tabs are an enhancement to allow access center designers to maximize space on a dashboard. An access center can consist of multiple dashboards but sub tabs can exist on each dashboard. Any type of metric currently available can be added to sub tabs. In addition, improvements have been made to the dashboard tabs themselves so that tab reloads are no longer necessary after drill thrus and zooms.

KPI Grids

KPIs have previously been displayed as images only. An access center designer now has the option to display KPIs as grids. This allows more data to be displayed with scroll bars if necessary. Displaying the data as a grid also allows for sorting and filtering capability not available when the KPI is an image. A designer has the option to display the KPIs as either an image or grid based on his/her preference.

Scheduling Source Updates

Data sources can be scheduled for update only as needed. For example – a chart that only changes monthly will have sources refreshed monthly instead of daily. In addition, sources can now be filtered on the load so that all security combinations do not need to be updated nightly.

Branding

A multi-company branding solution has been implemented. When multiple databases are accessed on the same web server and specific branding has been configured - the appropriate branding information will be displayed throughout the application. Contact customer.care@precisionbi.com for additional information on adding your company logo to your PresentationCenter website.
